What’s your biggest dream?
This was an easy prompt to answer. At least for me. For most of my life I wanted to be a race car driver. Specifically, Indy cars. I would fantasize about being the first driver to win five of them. I still do on occasion, despite the fact that this will remain just a dream.
When I was younger, and could have begun the steps to make the dream real, I kept the dream to myself. My parents weren’t wealthy. And I figured that they wouldn’t be able to afford the things needed to do it. Although they would have done what needed to be done if I had been adamant about it. Mostly, it was fear and being not very confident with myself that ultimately did the dream in.
The closest I came was taking a performance driving course a few years ago. It was everything I had hoped for. And it gave me a taste of racing. It also confirmed that this is certainly a young person’s gig. Especially when starting out.
Even though I will never experience the thrill of winning the Indianapolis 500, I have come to terms with not achieving this dream. I can, however, continue to fantasize about it.
